Dear Craft Team,   Do you know of anyone in Sydney who is into the craft of making boxes, such as trinket boxes, from old books?

I used to think it was sacrilege to treat any book that way until I was given a set of “World Book Encyclopedias” and a set of “Childcraft”, both published in 1974, about four dozen hard-cover books in all.

As they are now thoroughly out of date, their only alternative fate is land-fill. I would rather see them put to good use.

I would be most grateful for you help. Thank you,  Lynne M

    • Hi Trish,

Marianne used Bonnie Hunter’s ‘Star-Struck’ quilt design for Mikaela’s quilt. You can download the PDF pattern for free from Bonnie’s website at http://www.quiltville.com.

Simply scroll down and you will see in the right-hand column that there is a list of Free Scrap Quilt Patterns that you can download, including ‘Star-Struck’.

      Enjoy making your quilt!

    • The book is due for release and will be on sale at the Sydney Love Vintage Clothing Show & Sale, October 14-16, 2011. Visit http://www.lovevintage.com.au for times and details. It will also be on sale at the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair on October 19-23, at the Can Do Books stand F02. It will be in selected bookstores as well.
